Wade Hayes was born on April 20, 1969 in Bethel Acres, Oklahoma, and grew up there. Don Hayes, his father, is also a seasoned country singer. Wade was motivated by his father to pursue a singing career. Ayes played the banjo as a child, and after seeing him do it, his father bought him a guitar. Then he started to perform it. When he was eleven years old, his family moved to Nashville, Tennessee.
His father signed a contract with an indie record company there, but it went bankrupt. They then return to Oklahoma. He also has two sisters, Stacey and Charity. When he returned to Nashville, he teamed up with Chick Rains. He organized a singing tryout with producer Don Cook. (the Mavericks, Brooks & Dunn). In the future, in 1995, he released his second record, Old Enough to Know Better. The song was an instant success, reaching number one on the singles chart. The single was nominated for Top New Male Vocalist of the Year by the Academy of Country Music in 1995.
He had just released his second album, On a Good Night. It came out in the summer of 1996. However, it did not achieve the same success as the first, despite selling well financially. His third CD, When the Wrong One Loves You Right, was released in 1998. The song was also very successful and was a Top 10 hit. In the year 2000 he publishes Highways and Heartaches respectively. Hayes leaves Monument Records and forms the McHayes Combo with Mark McClurg in 2003. This duo made an EP for Universal South. However, it did not receive widespread recognition. Then comes his debut track, “It Doesn’t Mean I Don’t Love You.”
It received positive feedback and scored well in 41 countries. The album was withheld by the company and the couple split in 2004.
