Daniel Willem Sileo was born on January 3, 1964 in Samford, Connecticut to Italian-American parents. Andy Robustelli, a relative, is a former New York Giants defensive end. Dan went to the University of Maryland, College Park. He played in 10 games as a freshman, breaking the record held by Hall of Famer Randy White. He was a backup for Maryland’s 1983 Atlantic Coast Conference championship team. He was then moved to the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio, and then to the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, in 1984.

He was recruited in February 2014 by The Mighty 1090 AM XEPRS of San Diego to host the morning program from 6:00 AM to 9:00 AM. In January 2018, Sileo quit The Mighty at 1090am for the new chat program The Machine. Similarly, in August 2019, IHeartMedia recruited him to broadcast afternoons on Sports 910 KGME in Phoenix.
