Perlmutter helped Marvel during the sale to Disney and later served as executive chairman. During his 30-year tenure at Marvel, Perlmutter was blamed for blocking the inclusion of women and people of color in the studio’s films. In a series of leaked emails from 2014Perlmutter argued that previous female lead superhero films flopped, while a memoir by Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed that he had to get past Perlmutter’s “roadblocks” in getting movies like Black Panther And Captain Marvel in production.

In addition to his infamous meddling in the course of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, here’s a list of some of the other scandals the 80-year-old Perlmutter has allegedly been involved in, including (but not limited to): allegedly bribing a New York police officer accelerate the renewal process his gun license; supposedly influencing the Department of Veterans Affairs using its connection to Donald Trump’s golf course; and a white lotus-ish legal dispute with tennis courts, stolen DNA and hate mail.

More recently, Perlmutter helped spark a proxy fight at Disney by supporting his old friend Nelson Peltz’s campaign to get on the Disney board. The two men shared the same views on cost cutting.
