Career
During his high school years, Nash began his ice hockey career as a junior in the Greater Toronto Hockey League (GTHL). In 1999, he caught the attention of OHL scouts while playing for GTHL. He was then signed by the London Knights in the Ontario Hockey League for two seasons. While playing with London Knight, he received the Emms Family Award as the League’s top rookie. The Columbus Blue Jackets selected him first overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft in the 2002–03 season.
On October 10, 2002, he made his NHL debut, scoring a goal in a 2-1 win against the Chicago Blackhawks. He was nominated for the Calder Trophy that season as the NHL’s outstanding rookie.
