According to reports, Patrick Quirke, a farmer from Tipperary, is set to appeal his sentence for the murder of Bobby Ryan in October. Bobby Ryan, also known as ‘Mr. Moonlight, a part-time DJ, went missing on June 3, 2011, after leaving his partner Mary Lowry’s house at around 6:30 am. Breanshamore’s Quirke, Co. Tipperary had denied being Bobby Ryan’s killer. Mr Ryan’s corpse was found 22 months later in April 2013 in an underground drain tank on Mrs Lowry’s property and leased by Quirke in Fawnagown.
The prosecution argued that Quirke “staged” the finding of the DJ’s corpse after Ms Lowry tried to cancel his lease with Fawnagowan and that Quirke killed Mr Ryan to rekindle a love affair with Ms Lowry . Quirke’s defense team claimed that the prosecution’s case had progressed no further than mere speculation. They claimed that Mary Lowry’s evidence was “inconsequential” and that she was “not a reliable witness”.
