over the years Persona has seen a steady rise from a niche RPG series to a bona fide hit – so the next natural step is a live-action adaptation. While nothing is officially in the works yet, Toru Nakahara, the live-action producer Sonic the hedgehog movies, says it’s something Sega is investigating.

“The worlds of Atlus are filled with pompous drama, cutting edge style and compelling characters,” Nakahara told IGN† “Stories like those from the Persona franchise is really resonating with our fans and we see an opportunity to expand the lore like no one has seen – or played before.” More directly, he said that “Sega and Atlus are working together to bring these stories and worlds to life through new media and for a new audience.”

The news comes at a time when seemingly every popular video game is being modified in one way or another, from Sony’s shows based on turned metalThe last of usand Ghost of Tsushima to the animated Super Mario movie of the team behind it minions (who will somehow star Chris Pratt). Netflix, meanwhile, has gone all in on game tweaks following the success of series like The Witcher and The Cuphead Show† Sega has of course seen great success with its live action Sonic the hedgehog film, which spawned a sequel that hit theaters earlier this year.

The question is whether the anime-influenced world of Persona would fit well for a live-action adaptation, but the news comes when the series is as popular as it’s ever been, the news follows that the most recent titles would be coming to new platforms like the Xbox and Nintendo Switch.
