The increased demand for portrait mode content is driven by the popularity of TikTok, Instagram Reels, and YouTube Shorts. As people have adapted to consuming content in their phone’s native vertical orientation, tools optimized for portrait content creation should follow suit.
Microsoft acknowledged this “shift to content creation on mobile devices” alongside the announcement. Now Office Insiders using PowerPoint Mobile on iOS can toggle portrait mode on and off when creating and editing slides.
