Zuri Kye Edwards Birth, Siblings…
The only biological son of Patti LaBelle and Armstead Edwards, Zuri Kye Edwards, was born on July 17, 1973. After Zuri’s birth, Patti and Armstead adopted two sons from their deceased neighbor.
Zuri’s adopted siblings are Dodd Stocker-Edwards and Stanley Stocker. Reportedly, after taking in Dodd and Stanley, Zuri’s parents adopted two more children, William and Stayce Holte. They were apparently LaBelle’s sister’s children.

The R&B singer went on to say that things remained incredibly amicable even after the marriage had broken down. After Edwards, reports in 2016 said that Patti was allegedly and quietly dating her then 41-year-old drummer, Eric Seats. The rumored couple had been together for over a year at the time.

Someone once attacked Zuri Kye Edwards at the airport
In November 2013, singer Patti LaBelle’s son told a Texas jury that a man named Richard King was standing at an airport terminal in Houston. punched him in the face after the man yelled racist remarks at his mother†
According to Houston’s KTRK-TV, Edwards testified that King was “intoxicated, loud, obnoxious” and yelled racial slurs at his mother. Patti’s son then said that King immediately hit him on the right side of his face.
After this, Zuri testified that his mother’s bodyguard, Efrem Holmes, beat Richard King at the Bush Intercontinental Airport in 2011. After that, King filed a criminal complaint against Holmes.
Holmes’ attorneys, on the other hand, said their client was defending LaBelle and Edwards against King’s attack. LaBelle also testified in Holmes’ defense, calling him “cuddly, very kind, very gentle.”
The Grammy-winning singer said she and her son had just arrived in Houston with Holmes. Patti added that Edwards was loading luggage into an SUV for a trip to a gig at a Louisiana casino when King walked over to the limousine she was in.
King then shook the door handle to try to enter the limo and called out Patti when her son Edwards intervened. King then hit Edwards, and then Holmes hit King, LaBelle reported.
Zuri’s mom said no one tried to hit King, but he was the one who started it all. Surveillance videos showed Edwards punching King in the chest, being punched by King, and Holmes punching King three times in the face. Shortly after, LaBelle’s hairdresser came in between the two and he, too, began beating King.
King filed a lawsuit against Patti and Holmes in retaliation. LaBelle then went against Richard King.
Patti LaBelle Says Her Son Zuri Is Her Greatest Achievement
In August 2021, Patti LaBelle stated that her son, Zuri Kye Edwards, is her greatest achievement in life. LaBelle admits, for all her hits and musical success with her son, Zuri was the best thing she ever did.
In an interview with America’s Closer magazine, the R and B singer said†
“The memory of having my son was amazing. I was the oldest lady in the maternity ward! the girls were teenagers and I was 29. I said, ‘Lord, will I ever be able to walk again?’ It was a scary moment, giving birth, but such a beautiful result.”
LaBelle also said that while her son can be difficult to work for, despite their fights, she knows that he always wants her best because they are family.
