Early life and education
Joyce was raised as a single child in New York City by her Jewish parents – her father was the owner of a small jewelry store, while her mother was a nurse who worked at a local hospital.
Joyce grew up interested in acting and modeling, and while attending a local high school, she was a member of the drama club and acted in almost all of the plays before graduating in 1975. She also worked on her singing skills and tried to learn to play the piano, but after finding out she had no talent, she focused more on listening to music than creating it.

Joyce worked several jobs to support herself financially before making her screen debut with Brenda Weintraub in the teen comedy film “The Hollywood Knights” in 1980, followed by her roles in “They All Laughed” in 1981 and “Valley Girl”. in 1983.
She portrayed Linda in the dance musical “Staying Alive”, starring John Travolta and Cynthia Rhodes and directed by Sylvester Stallone. The year 1984 saw her star as Belinda in the mockumentary movie “This is Spinal Tap”, and she then appeared in “Just one of the guysAs Terry Griffith, the role changed her life. The film starred Joyce as Terry who, after losing two jobs to two boys, decides to pretend to be a man at her high school, dressing up and cutting her hair short. The film was nominated for three awards, including Joyce’s nomination for Best Leading Role by a Young Actress – Motion Picture.
She portrayed Karla Thompson in “Wedding Band” in 1990, and Muriel in “Greedy” in 1994, while her next role in a movie came six years later in “Can’t Be Heaven”. Joyce made her TV series debut in 1988 in “Freddy’s Nightmares”, followed by her portrayal of Vicki Singer in the “Mancuso, FBI” series episode “Suspicious Minds” in 1989. She won her only recurring role playing in the same year Allison Gottlieb in the legal TV drama series “LA Law”, starring Corbin Bernsen and Jill Eikenberry and which follows several people who work at the top law firm in Los Angeles.
In 1990, she guest starred in an episode of several TV series including “Midnight Caller”, “Lifestories” and “The Flash”, and in 1992 she played Nora Blake in the episode “Is Someone Crazy in Here or Is It” . Me’ from the drama series ‘Raven’. She was then cast to play Dawn Bonds in “Melrose Place” and Claire in “Viper” in 1994, before playing Annette Gabbiano in an episode of the action drama series “The Marshal” in 1995.
Some of Joyce’s last TV series appearances before she retired from acting were in “Pacific Blue” in 1998 and in “The Division” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation” in 2011.
Love life and relationships
Joyce met Bruce Springsteen at a party during his 1978 US tour – Bruce asked their mutual friend Gary Busey to introduce them, and Joyce ended up spending the rest of Bruce’s tour with him. It is widely believed that the two broke up once the tour ended, but kept in touch and still occasionally saw each other for several years afterward.
She met a year after her and Bruce’s affair ended Warren Beatty, an American actor and producer, when she appeared in one of his films. Warren was not loyal to his girlfriends in the past, and Joan Collins, the actress he dated before meeting Joyce, had an abortion after getting her pregnant and left him because he was unfaithful.
Warren and Joyce dated for a year before separating and in 1992 he married Anette Bening – they have four children together.
Joyce is currently single, not married and has no children.
Hobbies and other interests
Joyce has always been interested in music and her tastes have changed as the years have passed.
She grew up listening to her later boyfriend Bruce and the bands Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, while she later started listening to Queen, Deep Purple and Guns ‘n’ Roses.
