My Skarsgård is a Swedish physician, who rose to prominence when she became the (now former) wife of popular Swedish actor Stellan Skarsgård, best known for his work as Dr. Erik Selvig in the Marvel Cinematic Universe franchise films “Avengers” and “Tor.”
Early life and family
My Skarsgård My Sonja Marie Agnes Günther was born on July 3, 1956 in Kalmar län, Sweden. Little else is known about her early life and family.
She graduated from a Swedish university in 1978 with a medical degree.
My is currently a doctor in Södermalm, South Stockholm, Sweden. However, she was never able to fully pursue her profession while still married to her husband, as she often accompanied him when he traveled.
Mine was married to her childhood sweetheart Stellan Skarsgård on April 27, 1975 in Sweden; the couple had known each other and lived in the same neighborhood since they were kids, and her brother is Stellan’s childhood best friend.
They had six children: five boys, Alexander Johan Hjalmar, Samuel Kristoffer Ymer, Gustaf Caspar Orm, Samuel Kristoffer Ymer, Bill Istvan, Valter and daughter Eija. Of her children, only Sam followed in her footsteps in the medical field to become a doctor. The other four sons followed in their father’s footsteps and are all involved in film and television, while their only daughter pursued a modeling career. There is not much information about her personal life as her husband is quite protective of her and would not discuss his personal life even though he has a very public career.
She and her husband divorced in 2007 after 32 years of marriage; unlike many other divorced couples, the two are still the best of friends, even though he has remarried with two more sons, and still live just steps away from each other.
Skarsgård’s sons have successful acting careers in Hollywood.
Alex won an Emmya Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award for “Big Little Lies,” an HBO drama series starring Nicole Kidman, Laura Dern, and Reese Witherspoon.
He has a huge fan base in the US and Sweden, especially when he started appearing as Eric Northman, a Viking vampire in the TV series ‘True Blood’ starring Anna Paquin and Sam Trammell, which ran for seven seasons.
Gustaf is part of the main cast of the historical drama series ‘Vikings’ and is in its seventh season in 2020. He also starred in the second season of the sci-fi western series ‘Westworld’.
Bill took on the role of Pennywise the Dancing Clown in the hit horror film ‘It’, released in 2017, which grossed around $700 million against a budget of $35 million. He reprized the role in the sequel, “It Chapter Two”, in 2019, which grossed approximately $475 million in total against a budget of $79 million.
Who is Stellan Skarsgard?
Stellan John Skarsgård of Swedish descent, was born on June 13, 1951 in Gothenburg, Sweden to parents Gudrun Larsson and Jan Skarsgård. As he grew up, his family moved to various places in Sweden, including Kalmar, Helsingborg, Totebo and Uppsala.
He started his acting career in 1968 when he was 17 years old and debuted on television in five episodes of the Swedish drama series “Bombi Bitt och jag” (Bombi Bitt and me). From then on, he was offered various roles not only in television but also in movies, making his screen debut in a short Swedish film, “Strandhugg i somras” (Ashore In The Summer) in 1972.
He also participated in many Swedish theater shows, so Stellan already had an extensive resume in all three acting forms before Hollywood took notice of him.
His first American film was “Noon Wine”, starring Fred Ward and Pat Hingle, which was released in 1985, but only on home video. His first proper Hollywood movie, “The Hunt for Red October” starring Sean Connery and Alex Baldwin in 1990, was a blockbuster, grossing over $200 million worldwide. Stellan played a Soviet submarine commander Captain Tupolev of the Konolov SSN. His impressive acting skills led to many important roles, including that of the priest in “Exorcist: The Beginning” in 2004, for which he replaced Liam Neeson in the role.
It was ironic that he was thought to play the role of Oskar Schindler in “Schindler’s List,” but it ended up being given to Liam Neeson.
One of his biggest roles was that of Bootstrap Bill Turner in the mega hit movie “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest” released in 2006, which grossed over $1 billion, and he reprized his role in the sequel, “Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End”, in 2007, which grossed just under $1 billion worldwide.
Stellan was also part of another successful movie, “Mamma Mia!” starring Pierce Brosnan and Meryl Streep, released in 2008 to gross over $600 million worldwide against a budget of $52 million.
After 10 years, he played the same role in “Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again,” another blockbuster, but with a lower gross of nearly $400 million.
His impressive acting skills and professional work ethic with a bit of luck landed him a part of another major franchise movie series. In 2011, Stellan took on the role of Dr. Erik Selvig in the movie ‘Thor’ with Chris Hemsworth, Natalie Portman and Tom Hiddleston. He reprized that role in the sequel, “Thor: The Dark World”, in 2013. His role was part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so he also starred in the movie “The Avengers”, starring Robert Downey, Chris Hemsworth and Chris Evans in 2012, and appeared again in the sequel, “Avengers: Age of Ultron”, in 2015.

- The Skarsgård family may not be very popular in the US with its four members active in American television and movies, but in Sweden they are treated like royalty in the entertainment industry.
- All of her sons are over six feet tall and her daughter is five feet eight inches tall.
- Her children grew up in a simple bohemian lifestyle. Everyone was welcome in their parental home and the children loved it. However, things got awkward when they started bringing dates home because they would Catch Stellan naked with only a glass of red wine in his hand.
- She and her former husband have a unique parenting style; the couple let their children decide for themselves at age 16, believing they were big enough to decide what they wanted to do with their lives rather than imposing their own dreams on them.
My wife is 1.64 m tall and has light brown hair and brown eyes.
My net worth is estimated to be up to $1 million, but her former husband has a reputed net worth of $40 million as of May 2020 – it is believed she had a sufficient divorce settlement in 2007.
