Tom Keifer was born in Pennsylvania, United States, on January 26, 1961. His family also loved music, so he started playing guitar at a young age. He soon fell in love with the blues and was deeply influenced by it. He joined his first rock band in high school. During high school, he struggled with drug and alcohol abuse and considered quitting to pursue his dreams.
But his mother Adrienne stopped him from bribing him by promising him a Gibson Les Paul guitar after graduation. After graduation, he got what his mother wanted and started performing in several bands including Saints In Hell, Telepath and Diamonds.
