Career

He began to focus entirely on himself as a musician after overcoming his drug and alcohol addiction. As a result, he started writing original material and soon found financial support to support his work. He ran racehorses and delivered films to emerging markets. He soon formed CINDERELLA, his hard rock band, with good friend and bassist Eric Brittingham.

Despite his shy nature, he had to become the lead singer because no one else could fill that position. Gene Simmons of KISS discovered the band and tried unsuccessfully to sign them. Derek Schulman eventually signed the band after John Bon Jovi, who saw them perform at the Empire Rock Club in Philadelphia in 1985, persuaded his Mercury A&R manager Derek Schulman to sign them.

His career as a musician blossomed from then on. NGIHT SONGS, LONG COLD WINTER and HEARTBREAK STATION were all huge hits for them. It was an exciting time for him. He enjoyed being the songwriter for the band. He lost his voice after THE HEARTBREAK STATION due to paralysis of the left vocal cord. After this incident, the band managed to release their fourth album STILL CLIMBING, but it failed to capture the public’s attention and did not become a hit.

The band broke up in 1995. Keifer continued his surgeries and did everything he could to heal himself. Aside from his surgeries, he started writing songs for a solo album. The whole band reformed in 1997 and started touring in 1998. They released ONCE UPON A and a live album, LIVE AT THE KEY CLUB, which was a huge success.
