Early life and education
Amy grew up with three siblings in a family that loved baseball. The family often watched their local California teams, and her siblings would also pursue baseball careers. At the age of five, she decided to focus on one sport and chose baseball, which she would continue to play even as a student.
She attended Foothill High School, where she played with the school’s baseball and softball teams; she was a starter during her four years in school, mostly at third base.
During her time there, she received numerous awards, including All-State honors. After graduating from college, she planned to continue her athletic run and enrolled at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), one of the largest and oldest universities in California. It is considered a Public Ivy, one of the public schools in the US with an education system similar to that of the prestigious Ivy League.
Success in UCLA and career beyond
UCLA’s athletic teams are considered some of the most successful within the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA). Their team, collectively referred to as the Bruins, has won more than 129 national championships and 118 NCAA championships, second only to Stanford University.
She joined both the baseball and softball teams of the Bruins and was part of the highly successful women’s softball team that would later become to win the 2010 Women’s College World Series.
While in college, she also gained her first work experience at San Francisco-based software company Spigit, where she interned as part of the sales and marketing team. The company is known for using various software intended to provide collective information and resources to companies. After graduation, she took a job at Avid Ink as one of the account managers. With her success as an athlete and her partnership with Gerrit Cole, she began working as a career coach for athletes, providing advice on their career direction among many other decisions they make.
She now works closely with her husband, and also keeps a job Essex mortgage where she serves as a hiring manager.
Husband – Gerrit Cole
While Gerrit grew up in California, his love for the New York Yankees stems from his childhood, largely influenced by his father, who was originally from New York. He grew up with a younger sister, and both were athletically inclined and practiced sports from childhood. He attended Orange Lutheran High School, where he played as a pitcher for the junior varsity team. He received some attention during this time due to his fastball and outstanding win-loss record. After his matriculation exam, he was cited by many as one of the top high school candidates.

He was selected by the New York Yankees during the 2008 MLB draft, making him the first from his school to be drafted.
However, he chose to get a college degree first after considering the many factors, as many high school students often have trouble transitioning within MLB, or after their careers in sports. He took a scholarship to enroll at UCLA, joined the Bruins and became their starting pitcher. It took him a year to adjust, but in 2010, he helped the Bruins to a record 51–17 record, leading them to the 2010 College World Series, but where they lost to South Carolina.
Success in professional baseball
In 2011, Cole rejoined the MLB draft and was one of the top talents in the class, leading him to the first overall pick, by the Pittsburgh Pirates, and signed a minor league contract, the highest record for a rookie with $8 million. He played his first few years in the minor leagues until he was called up in 2013 due to main roster injuries. He quickly made a name for himself, although he still had a kit to improve with his pitching. Nevertheless, he received several awards, such as Rookie of the Month and National League (NL) Pitcher of the Month.
In 2018, he was traded to the Houston Astros, where he struckout 12 batters to set the record for the team; during that game, he struckout 16 players, allowing only one hit. He was soon invited to the All-Star game and became the second pitcher to strike out 14 or more batters in consecutive games. He continued to play with the Astros through 2019, and beyond signed a huge nine-year contract with the New York Yankees worth $324 million, the largest signed by a pitcher. The contract saw him achieve the highest average annual value of any professional baseball player in the MLB, beating Mike Trout’s record.
Private life
Amy met Gerrit while they were both studying at UCLA. Since they were both involved in athletic teams and baseball, the two became close as they often visited the college weight room. After being friends for a year, the two started dating and have been together ever since. In 2016, the two married in a ceremony in Newport Beach, California, attended by friends and families – four years later they announced her pregnancy. Although she hasn’t played baseball for a while, she still shows a lot of skills on a competitive level, as recorded by her husband on multiple occasions. She was right skilled doing a strong fastball pitch during pregnancy.
