Inspired by famous artists like Macklemore, Kanye West and Jon Bellion, the trio released their first single “I’m Ready” on August 22, 2013, and Ryan sent the song to about 80 popular artists, including the singer and songwriter Sia who told her manager about the brothers. The video for the song was released on October 15, 2013 and on December 20 on Boys first extended play (EP) “6foot1” came out and later changed its name to “I’m Ready”. On September 23, 2014, the boys released their second EP titled “Infinity” with five songs, and then also announced that they would be releasing their full length debut album – it came out on March 3, 2015 titled “Living Room”, reaching # 20 on the Top Heatseekers chart.
On September 16, 2016, AJR released their third EP “What Everyone’s Thinking” – one of the songs from the EP, “Weak”, became their most popular song.
On June 9, 2017, AJR’s second full-length album titled “The Click” was released, featuring songs such as “Weak”, “Drama and “Sober Up”, and featuring various artists including Rivers Cuomo. been inactive for three years.
Awards and honors
The boys were named Artists on the Rise by the CC Media Holdings not long after they debuted.
Their hit single “I’m Ready” topped the Next Big Sound Music Chart and was certified Platinum by both the Australian Recording Industry Association and the Recording Industry Association of America – their single “Weak” was also certified Platinum.
The single “Sober Up” was certified gold and reached #7 on Bubbling Under Hot 100 Singles Chart.
