Who is Eugenia Cooney?
Eugenia Cooney was born in Massachusetts, USA, on July 27, 1994 – her zodiac sign is Leo and has American nationality. She is a YouTuber and social media star, perhaps best known for creating vlog and lifestyle related videos.
Early life, family and education
Eugenia grew up in Connecticut with her brothers Chip and Joshua – the identities of their parents are not publicly known. During her childhood and teenage years, Eugenia was often the victim of bullying at school, which caused her to change schools several times. During her last three years of high school, she was actually homeschooled.
During this time Eugenia found comfort in online networkswhich allowed her to interact with like-minded people, eventually starting her YouTube channel.

In June of that year, she launched her youtube channel, uploading her first video entitled “Outfits of the Week” in May 2013. Later in the same year, Eugenia became a viral sensation, with her “How to Ratchetly Twerk” video, which has been viewed more than 7.5 million times. It was initially shared on the WorldSTRaHipHop website and later even covered by some news outlets.
Since then, Eugenia has received a lot of attention online, unfortunately often negatively. She became known for her emo style of clothing and bold, multi-colored makeup. On her YouTube channel, Eugenia mainly uploads vlog and lifestyle videos, along with clothing try-ons and cosplay tutorials. She has also collaborated with other content creators such as Social Response and Shane Dawson.
As of December 2021, Eugenia’s YouTube channel has over 2.1 million subscribers and over 260 million views. Her most popular video is “My Mom Turns Me PREPPY” which has been viewed over 23 million times while some of her other popular videos are “MY FAVORITE SUMMER TOPS”, “I’m Back” and “Kingdom Hearts Kairi Cosplay”. Eugenia launched her Twitch channel in 2014, but didn’t start regular live streams until 2018; she is still very active on the platforms, streaming at least twice a week for several hours. Eating Disorder Worries
During her online career, Eugenia has received a lot of concerns and criticism about her visibly thin figure.
Many of her viewers have speculated that she may be suffering from an eating disorder, particularly anorexia nervosa, and some of her critics have argued for its removal from YouTube, as her content can reportedly lead to unhealthy eating habits among young and impressionable viewers. However, Eugenia is reportedly a popular figure in the online “pro-ana” communities, where her photos and videos are used as inspiration for serious weight loss.
In 2015, Eugenia’s fans noticed that she had lost even more weight and that she appeared disoriented in some of her videos. This led to many concerns about her health, and an anonymous user started an online petition on Change.org, calling for a temporary ban from YouTube. It reached over 18,000 signatures before being removed from the website for violating the Community Guidelines.
Commenting on the situation, Eugenia said she does not suffer from an eating disorder and has no plans to tackle it again.
In 2019, Eugenia became noticeably less active on all of her social media profiles, before completely disappearing from the internet for over five months. This led to rumors that she may be ill or even dead, but Eugenia later took to Twitter to clarify that she was taking a break from social media to focus on her mental and physical health.
In July of the same year, she produced several videos in collaboration with YouTuber Shane Dawson, in which she shared that she was in a rehabilitation center for her eating disorder.
She was a noticeably healthier weight, and the video series garnered tens of millions of views on YouTube, with many fans of Shane and Eugenia praising her recovery. As a result, she was nominated for the 2020 Shorty Award in the YouTuber of the Year category and returned to uploading videos regularly.
However, later in 2020, she reportedly started to struggle with her weight again, and in her videos she appeared to be underweight. In February 2021, Lily Rose Mills, a mental health campaigner, started a petition to remove or at least age-restrict Eugenia’s YouTube channel and other social media profiles, arguing that she promotes eating disorders. Although the petition has been signed more than 50,000 times, neither Eugenia nor YouTube representatives have commented on it.
In the past, social media networks have made efforts to remove harmful content that openly promotes unhealthy eating habits by removing posts that contain keywords like “proana” and “thinspiration,” but since Eugenia never talks openly about her weight, some argue that it removing its content on the basis of its appearance alone can be considered discriminatory.

In the past, she has made multiple videos mentioning “a boyfriend”, all of which turned out to be a joke. On the other hand, Eugenia has not been spotted spending time with a potential partner, and even once said that she has never been in a relationship. Because of this, some of her fans are speculating that she may be asexual or aromatic, but she has yet to comment on these rumours.
