Swedish furniture maker IKEA was met with derision days after it opened its large format store in
Wakefit, an online home solutions company, teased it, reminding citizens how bad traffic is — that the store is on the outskirts of the business — in Nagasandra. That is 17 kilometers from the city center.
“Traffic is bad. The weather is great, the best brew is at ToiT, the tastiest dosas are at CTR and Ulsoor Lake never freezes,” the advertisement began.

Traffic in Bengaluru, which can only be described as a nightmare because it can linger for hours on many stretches, is a good marketing tool for an online store with experience centers within the municipal boundaries.

This isn’t the first time Wakefit has marketed in a way that went viral. The best campaign to date is the plan to hire ‘sleep interns’ who would receive a stipend of Rs 1 lakh along with a prize of Rs 10 lakh for the best performer!
