India’s trade deficit widens 139% to $27.98 billion in August

Indias trade deficit in August rose 139 percent to $27.98 billion, from $11.71 billion recorded during the corresponding period last year.



According to Ministry of Commerce data, IndiaGoods exports rose 1.62 percent to $33.92 billion in August 2022, from $33.38 billion in the same period last year.

Input rose by 37.28 percent year-on-year, widening the trade deficit.

Meanwhile, the country’s total exports (including goods and services) were $57.47 billion in August 2022, a growth of 6.75 percent over the corresponding period.

Total imports in August 2022 were estimated at $75.84 billion, a 33.15 percent growth over the corresponding period last year.
