  • This growth is driven by weddings and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and business travel.

goa is India‘s favorite hotel destination with the best occupancy rates and income per room, a study conducted by JLL Hotels Group revealed.

According to Hotel Momentum India Report 2022, in the second quarter of 2022, India witnessed an increase in the demand for hotels in six major cities: Delhi, Bengaluru, Chennai, Goa, Hyderabad and Mumbai.

This growth is driven by weddings and meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) and business travel.

“The excellent performance of the hospitality industry in recent months has boosted the confidence of hotel owners and operators. This is reinforced by the return of the business traveler. Investors’ eyes have returned to the sector,” Sanjay Sethi, CEO of Chalet Hotels.

All six major markets continued to witness year-over-year growth in revenue per available room (RevPAR) in the second quarter of 2022 compared to last year, the report found.

Goa remained the leader in RePAR, with a 54% increase in hotel occupancy. The average daily rate of hotels in Goa was the highest in India, at over ₹9,000. Mumbai came in second with an occupancy rate equal to that of Goa and RevPAR of ₹8,000. Delhi was in third place with each generating revenue of over ₹6,000.

Bengaluru saw the strongest increase in RevPAR in the second quarter of 2022, growing 660% compared to the same period the previous year.

“As business travel and off-site business continued to grow, summer vacations further boosted general demand, resulting in renewed confidence in the industry. We expect this momentum to continue in the coming quarters as long weekends, festivals, weddings, events and business travel contribute equally to this growth story,” said Jaideep Dang, managing director – hotels and hospitality group, South AsiaJLL.
